Robert Farmer

President

Robert Farmer is a power systems engineer, experienced sales executive and sales marketing specialist, and an accomplished public speaker and writer on climate change and energy issues. A research specialist with a keen engineering interest in the drivers—the trends, choices, barriers, and solutions—for a climate-friendly future, his expertise and insights have been sought by business, government and non-profits to “raise the bar in terms of where we’re heading.”

A British-born Canadian, he was educated as a planning engineer by Bristol-Siddeley Engines/Rolls-Royce Gas Turbines Ltd. in the United Kingdom. He has over 30 years experience in sales and marketing management, application engineering, project engineering, and service management in the engine power industry in North America. His technical expertise includes energy efficient, large to small-scale power generation, combined heat and power (CHP), marine, surface transportation, and alternative energy applications.

He is also president of Third Planet, a Florida-based 501(c)(3) operating foundation which assists the public to learn about and take action on a broad range of climate change solutions leading to more sustainable settlement and lifestyle patterns.

He is an accredited observer to the meetings of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and was an accredited delegate to the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) in Johannesburg, South Africa. He served on the Energy Advisory Committee of the Governor’s Commission for a Sustainable South Florida (1996-97) and is a member of the Climate and Energy Specialist Working Group of the World Conservation Union’s Commission on Environmental Law (IUCN CEL CESG).

Linda D. Farmer

Linda Farmer has worked in the communications field for over 30 years as an executive in management, marketing communications, and public relations.

Before founding Concept Communiqués in 1989, Mrs. Farmer’s corporate experience included being editor and copywriter for national account advertising agencies (Weston, Ganoff, Marini; Smith, Wolff & Associates), new market researcher and newsletter editor for a major direct marketing financial services corporation (SafeCard Services, Inc.), and marketing and sponsorship director for an international sports promotion agency (Tour of the Americas).

Born in Ontario, Canada, she earned a BA degree studying English Literature at Toronto’s York University on an entrance scholarship. After graduating she worked in senior management at the University of Toronto for 12 years where she became known for her program planning, systems analysis, and organizational efficiency skills in addition to her communications expertise. Ultimately she served as Registrar of the graduate Faculty of Information Science before leaving Canada to become a permanent resident of the United States in 1982.
